Brief history of textile education in Bangladesh
The start of textile education in Bangladesh can be traced back to British regime. Some semi formal education for textile was there in the territory of Bangladesh back then. In 1921, a weaving school was established in Narinda Dhaka to provide textile technician education by offering artisan level courses.During 1911-1947 semi formal education training programs and vocational schools on textile education was in existence. Eventually, the first formal education on textile began in 1954 with the first diploma course in textile technology in the East Pakistan Textile Institute which became widely known as Textile College afterwards. The college later updated itself and started offering bachelors degree (B.Sc.) in Textile Technology in 1978 and was named as the College of Textile Technology (CTT).
