Admission Time Increased Amid Apprehension (360 Hours)

 The date of admission process affiliated by Bangladesh Technical Education Board, National Standard Basic Certificate Course (360 hours) has been extended.

Dates of admission process for July-September 2022 (3 Months) and July-December 2022 (6 Months) courses are as follows:

 a) Online Data Entry: 16 October 2022 to 24 October 2022

b) Registration fee: 26 October 2022 to 31 October 2022. Payment must be made through the Sonali Payment Gateway.

Panic Scared of Go Out from Bangladesh Technical Education Board

Owners of BTEB affiliated Basic Trade (360-Hours) courses  are scared when they had received an unconfirmed report through phone call of a possible transfer these curriculum go out from Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB). They also arranged rally and  press briefing some district to protest this. 

The number of institutes is running National Skilled Standard Basic Certificate Course (360 Hours) conducted by BTEB authority is 3514. About 25000 people are involved in it. The number of courses of 3 months and 6 months duration is 19.

Isn't that ridiculous?

They said that later these courses would be under NSDA run by the Prime Minister in order to increase the quality of technical education. But no such notice or advance message was given by the BTEB, Technical Education Department or Education Ministry. They are so terrified by such unconfirmed news that they are forced to take to the streets.

We are Bengalis. We get rheumatism very easily. And in such rumor's, some are profited and most of them are victims of harassment and waste of time and money.

This is not our bad quality. Many of our national successes lie in correct objective rumor's. Proof of which, The Language Movement of 52, The Liberation War of 71.

Government Targets 30 percent enrollment in Technical Education by 2030

 Bangladesh government plans to increase the number of students in technical education to 30 percent by 2030, from the existing 17 percent. According to the official document, the enrollment rate in technical education, which was less than 1.0 per cent 12 years ago, is now 17.25 per cent.

The government has taken the move as one of its principal aims to create skilled human resources in information technology compatible with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

To that end, the government is laying emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) based education and training, according to an official document, reports UNB.

To meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution the government is giving importance to teaching appropriate technology-based subjects in the classroom and is allocating a budget to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) for bringing necessary changes in the curriculum.

Diploma in Textile Engineering education

Brief history of textile education in Bangladesh 

The start of textile education in Bangladesh can be traced back to British regime. Some semi formal education for textile was there in the territory of Bangladesh back then. In 1921, a weaving school was established in Narinda Dhaka to provide textile technician education by offering artisan level courses.

During 1911-1947 semi formal education training programs and vocational schools on textile education was in existence. Eventually, the first formal education on textile began in 1954 with the first diploma course in textile technology in the East Pakistan Textile Institute which became widely known as Textile College afterwards. The college later updated itself and started offering bachelors degree (B.Sc.) in Textile Technology in 1978 and was named as the College of Textile Technology (CTT).

The word polytechnic is derived from the Greek word ‘poli’ meaning many and ‘tekhnikos’ meaning arts. Polytechnic offers a variety of professional courses, both technical and vocational in nature in Bangladesh. The Polytechnic provides various career courses and allows a person to start his own business or get a decent job at a reputed place.

Diploma Technical Course Curriculum of BTEB

Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) came into existence with the jurisdiction over the entire area of Bangladesh to organize, supervise, regulate, control and develop technical and vocational education. The Board in its present form became operative with effect from June 1969. The details of the course of BTEB as following:

Diploma-In-Engineering:

In 1955, Pakistan Government established "East Bengal Polytechnic Institute" in Dhaka to made medium class engineers. Then in 1963, 2 polytechnic institutes was established in Chittagong and Khulna. In the next, total 16 polytechnic institutes was established in Sylhet, Barisal, Pabna, Bogra, Rangpur, Feni, Comilla, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia and Dinajpur. Again some women polytechnic and Tangail and Patuakhali was established. Now government polytechnic and similar institutions are 50 in Bangladesh.
To encourage technical education, BTEB give affiliation to non-government polytechnic institute from 1994-95. 
Present Status of Diploma-In-Engineering Trade:
  • Total Institutes: 230 ( Govt - 50, Non-govt - 180)
  • Seat Capacity: 44200 (Govt- 16580, Non-govt - 27620)

Diploma Education definition perspective Bangladesh

A diploma is a certificate issued by an educational institution, such as university or specialized educational institute, that certifies that the recipient has successfully completed a particular course of study an academic degree. The word diploma coming from a Greek word which means "folded paper".

Now-a-days, the demand of the diploma education is rapidly growing in Bangladesh. Basically, technical education diploma plays a great role in the education sector, which make easy to get a job for a person. Otherwise, to admission in a university is difficult for mid-level and low-level student. For a university degree costing is high and duration is also factor.

Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) is controlling the technical diploma education of Bangladesh. BTEB grants, with-hold or with-draws the affiliation to the concerned institutions.

About BTEB:
In 1960 the Directorate of technical Education was established for development of technical and vocational education. The Directorate of Technical Education initiated rapid development and expansion works of degree, diploma and trade level technical education in the country. To cope up with increasing magnitude of academic activities, the need for establishment of a “Statutory Board” was keenly felt. A statutory body namely “The East Pakistan Technical Education Board” was established through Act. No. 1 of 1967 of the then East Pakistan Assembly, which is how Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB). Thus the Bangladesh Technical Education Board came into existence with the jurisdiction over the entire area of Bangladesh to organize, supervise, regulate, control and develop technical and vocational education. The Board in its present form became operative with effect from June 1969.
